So she graduated and
went on to the University of Michigan, where
her red dress drove blood
through the hearts of all the boys in Ann Arbor
and if she joined you
for breakfast, well. That was
the best bad side of town you ever saw and
you never forgot it even after you
had girls of your own that you would never
think of naming Sloopy.
She took her degree in economics
to Manhattan and chased the Nifty Fifty
all the way to Black Monday. Then
she quietly settled in
with a guy who was with Lehman Brothers,
and that was that.
No one knows if she ever once
gave another thought
to Rick Derringer.
