Bobby-Womack1944: Born this day in Cleveland’s Fairfax neighborhood — Bobby Womack, singer, songwriter and Sam Cooke’s backing guitarist. He writes and records The Rolling Stones’ first U.K. #1 It’s All Over Now. His career starts before he is 10 years old, performing with his four brothers. Billed as The Womack Brothers, their mentor is Sam Cooke, who promotes them and gets them gigs with the likes of The Staple Singers. Cooke changes their name to The Valentinos and produces their first big hit, Lookin for a Love.
