1933: Silken-voiced Lou Rawls is born in Chicago, where he is raised by his grandmother. He will release more than 60 albums, sell more than 40 million records, and have numerous charting singles. He is a television, motion picture, and voice actor, and a three-time Grammy-winner, all for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. His first #1 R&B single is Love Is a Hurtin’ Thing in 1966.
